FedupFeds members talk about RSI
(As an RSI sufferer, Dave in Oklahoma City is a contributor to our FedupFeds interactive mailing list.)   Dave writes :

Have you noticed employees wearing "wrist wraps or bands," "weight belts," or those velcro "tendonitis wraps," on their forearms?  If you have, then consider this observation.  The people you see wearing these various "aids" are ALREADY INJURED and are typically, so far gone, that the wraps and such that they wear, actually do little good other than to help the injured employee, "MAINTAIN A COMFORTABLE LEVEL OF DENIAL."
These people are running from the fact that they have worn out a body part, that their job aggravates a Repetitive Stress Injury.  I know from personal experience, that it's too late, once you think that a wrap or wrist brace will actually help.  I went many years rationalizing my Carpal Tunnel, until my condition became so unbearable that I could no longer stand it.  I have asked many people at my work who wear braces and splints about their "need" to wear them, and every one of them is able to convince me that my assumption is correct: THEY ARE TOO FAR GONE!

And Judy in Texas writes:

Dave, you are right ON!!! I know what you mean about the wrist bands. PLEASE everyone listen to Dave.
I have bilateral carpel tunnel that was diagnosed in 1987 and also tennis elbow. So many things have happened since my original diagnosis. At the onset of the right carpel tunnel, my doctor fitted me into a wrist band and THAT was ALL any of the doctors did that I have seen since. I now have many problems relating to the wrists, hands and arms. The most serious one being nerve damage and entrapment of the nerves from the neck to wrists. I feel like this was caused from the injuries, but I now feel like if they had been treated early on, I would not be facing the surgeries I now face.
So, listen up folks and get help NOW!! Don't wait until you have so much damage that there is little hope of a remedy!! ...get help before it is too late as Dave stated!!!
