To Rep. Horn's right is Matthew Ebert,
subcommittee staffer. Conspicuously absent were most other members of the subcommittee. |
Oklahoma attorney Jim Linehan drew applause testifying about the
frustrations and suffering of injured workers denied any recourse to the courts to enforce
the laws. By contrast, when OWCP's own Shelby Hallmark began
making excuses for OWCP's conduct ("we're working on it"), a large FLY made a
nuisance of itself, buzzing around him--so much that Rep. Horn had to mention it, and
their "fly discussion" of course went into the hearing record along with all the
other testimony. See
Testimony of James Linehan about flaws in the FECA
See Testimony of Beth Balen, Administrator Anchorage Fracture and Orthopedic Clinic,
about impossibility of dealing with OWCP in Alaska

Copies of
The FedupFeds Report of Injured Federal Workers were on the table
with written testimonies presented, and were picked up by a large number of those
present. It contained the complete Report pages on this website with the online
survey results and urgent recommendations for reform. Rep. Horn announced that our
surveys will be in the hearing record itself. |
After the hearing, lunch with friends in the House (Rayburn Office Building)
cafeteria.
Barb (our Director) caught this shot. What a feeling! We wished
hundreds of others could be there, but so many couldn't- - so we were there for you.
Rep. Horn's subcommittee staffer Matthew Ebert dropped by for a casual chat with the group
on his way back to work. |
